One STEP closer

It is just amazing to me how fast Peyton picks up on things. Its like one day she just does something that she didn't do or try to do the day before. She has learned to sign "please" and "food" this past week. She is really trying to sign "bird" but I'm sure she will be doing it in no time.
Also, she has started to want to feed herself, meaning the spoon HAS to go in the bowl and then in her mouth and SHE has to do it. She is getting really good at it but I foresee messiness in the future. I guess I wasn't going to be able to escape it.

Oh and I can't forget to add that she took 3 giant steps towards me the other day when Cade and I went on a date. When we came back home I asked her to come to me and she did! These past few days she has been taking the same amount of steps and standing on her own for longer periods--even clapping while standing alone.

So, will she be walking at one? We shall see...

Fathers Day

It was Cade's FIRST Father's Day this year and we tried to make it memorable.

I thought it would be fun to do something different and unique on a budget. Everything is drawn in chalk on the concrete ground and I just stood on a chair to get the best angle I could without needing a ladder. I was so surprised that Peyton didn't try to roll over and crawl around, my mom helped distract while I got the picture.

Saturday we went to Kemah to start the weekend off. We hit the aquarium for lunch, walked around for a brief time with the Texas summer heat, and cooled off in the water splash area.

We got soaked

soaked again

First we had lunch with my dad at Olive Garden (his request). As some may or may not know, my dad was diagnosed several weeks back with Acute Myeloid Leukemia which is a type of blood/bone marrow cancer. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy and is so strong and is such a fighter.  We don't know what the future holds right now but we are taking it day by day. I continue to pray for strength for him, for my mom and myself with the path that God has laid out. He did get good news recently that his WBCs were slightly elevated--which is great! We've been having lots of Pawpaw and Peyton days and Peyton just LOVES her Pawpaw!

He loved it!

He also got a sweet card that Peyton made...well you know with a little bit of help. :)

Heard it through the Grapevine..

Last weekend we took a sibling vacation to Gaylord Texan in Grapevine. We'd never heard of it before and didn't realize how amazing and big it was!

Our adventures through pictures:

Nothing like food and a duck

Sleeping beauty

Our last night adventures ended with a dance party!

Butterflies and Dinosaurs

We took a trip downtown to check out the butterfly exhibit and discovered so much more. The Natural Science Museum has upgraded their dinosaur exhibit (or paleontology for all you scientific people).

Can I just say the butterfly exhibit was AWESOME! Um AWESOME...1000s of butterflies I'm not exaggerating.

Here is our adventure through pictures:
