Houston..we have a crawler!

Well the unthinkable happened today.......Peyton started to crawl. We honestly thought she would walk before she'd crawl since scooting around was working for her and she has started trying to use her legs more, but she proved us wrong!

I was putting a few things away in the house and found an old hat that I had when I was a baby my parents got in Jamaica so naturally I thought--hmm, let me see if this fits Peyton.

Fit like a glove! Well as I was folding the laundry, out of the corner of my eye, I see her moving while on her knees..wait, is she crawling?! So I stopped and watched, yep sure enough! I called Cade to come over and watch. Its so awesome to be able to watch "firsts" together.

On the move!
Needless to say this hat will be staying with us :)

Magnificent March

What a busy past week we've had! We've had fun with our playgroup, friends, grandmas, and a wedding!
Peyton also just discovered clapping and loves doing it. She is also starting to move around when standing up, she starts in one spot on a toy and slowing moves to another part of it. When we hold her up she takes steps without us trying to force her to move forward. She is will be walking before we know it!

Our week through pictures:
Relaxing

Hanging out with Mimi talking about bday plans

We went to Northshore Park during Spring Break (never doing that again, there were way too many people). It was sunny and we decided to take CeeCee and feed the ducks, we apparently the ducks don't like old tortillas. We had some pretty stiff competition with hot dog buns next to us. A few came up to us. Peyton enjoys swinging so we couldn't leave without doing that!

such a pro!
We've had few playgroup dates this past week and Peyton just loves the other kids. She likes to hold hands.

drained from all the fun

This past weekend a good friend of mine (part of my 'wolfpack') got married. This was the first wedding Peyton has been to. She did great! She didn't make a sound the entire ceremony, she was busy playing with daddy and my friend Claire. We were very proud of her. Since 8pm is her bedtime, she really didn't know what to do since there were so many people and lots of noise. She didn't like the loud laughter but she was so tired and not used to that. We danced for a little bit and changed into our pj's and went straight to sleep!

ready to go!

"One day.."

Part of the wolfpack.. Lauren our missing piece was of course the bride!

St. Patricks Day was low key--Cade and I went on a date (for the first time in a while). It was nice, we went to a movie (Silver Linings Playbook) and then out for lunch. AND Peyton was perfectly fine when we left and when we came back, so I think we are going to be doing that more often now.

Happy 3rd birthday to Sam!

Easter cards are going out this week. Peyton had so much fun with the eggs and baby chicks. She held on tight to two eggs and kept lifting them up in the air.
"Hmm..what is all of this?"
"I like these eggs"

"UP!"
"Here you go chicks"

Happy 8 months! (And 7 month favorites)

Well yet another month has flown by. The saying is true, when you have kids time goes by faster. Peyton is learning so much everyday and this month has been full of new things (good and bad).

-Signs "more"
-Has 5 teeth and smiles all the time
-Loves to raise her arms in the air. We do "up & down" a lot
-Loves peekaboo and is ticklish
-Loves looking at herself in the mirror (but how could you not being so incredibly cute ;) )
-Have a playgroup we really enjoy
-Stands with support extremely well
-Started eating homemade organic baby food (bananas, sweet potato, green beans, squash, zucchini and cauliflower<-not a fan of this one)
-Instead of crawling we scoot
-Gives kisses and hugs
-Loves to lean back in our arms and look at us
-Started panting like a dog when we get really happy
-Our first case of baby eczema. Mustela has controlled it!
-Got 4 teeth this month
-Now sit in the BoB forward facing
-Sleep on our side
-Tried to supplement with formula on occasion and WILL take it (Similac)! (with me having school all day Saturdays and do our various activities during the week and keep a good supply on hand)

Can't wait to see what this month holds!

Another trip to the zoo!

Well we are officially members of the Houston Zoo! Saturday we decided to go the zoo as a family. It was a little chilly but the weather was so beautiful it was hard to stay in doors. But before we left, we got dressed in our Cat in the Hat outfit for Dr. Seuss' birthday.

we bundled up a little more!
First stop Elephants!

The snake was saying hello!

We also had to visit the doctor this past week and it turns out we have a mild case of baby eczema. The doctor wasn't worried about it and said it is common especially since we are in Texas. I used some lavender soap and lotion a few weeks ago and that may have irritated her skin so all of that was thrown out when I got home--we now ONLY use MUSTELA! Yes, its expensive but its worth it. So the doctor said to use that and just lotion up constantly. I have really bad dry skin when I was young but it was never diagnosed as eczema but upon researching some of the creams used I may have had it they just didn't put a label.  Thankfully I outgrew it but I guess I passed it on to Peyton and the doctor thinks she will outgrow it too.

We now have 4 TEETH! And the 5th one is on its way..that has to be a record--3 teeth in 1 month.

First playgroup date! (and other activities)

Yesterday was our first playgroup date at the park. I've been looking for a group but most of the members kids are 2 plus years and I didn't want to be in a group that it was hard for Peyton to socialize with. We found one that seemed to fit our age so we went to a meet and greet and loved it! The majority of the kids are around Peyton's age so we had lots in common to talk about. As I talked to the moms, Peyton was enjoying playing with everyone's toys. She is a 'touchy' baby, not mean she just likes to hold hands and ears.

We can't wait to go to our next playdate!

nothing like a bag of wipes for the girls to play with

Go Texan Day! (First Zoo Trip)

Peyton's first kick off to the rodeo. We put on our pink cowgirl boots and headed to the zoo for the first time!
Horse shirt and pink boots!
Before we went there, we stopped by my old work and hung out since the last time most of them saw her was when she was 2 months old. I definitely don't miss the drive, especially now that we live further north.

Peyton LOVED the zoo! It was also her first time to sit in the Bob like a big girl! As we walked around her little feet were moving away, so much so that her boots kept falling off! It was fun exploring the zoo just us, we could take our time and go to different areas we wanted to see (or I guess me, haha). I wanted to go to the big exhibits since Peyton can't really look at the small animals. We saw the lions, monkeys, and giraffes. Lastly we headed to the elephants and right as we got to them, she fell asleep! It was so cute, I guess our adventure wore her out!
A nice lady offered to take our picture

We will definitely be going back to the zoo and will probably get a membership.
